About ValuePublishing.001

In eigener Sache: Unser neues Angebot — Teil 1: “Was? Wie? Warum!”

Gute Fragen. — Beste Antwort:
WIR!

Wir, dass sind Michael Seidl, EMG/Wien, und Andreas Weber, Value Communication/Mainz, ausgewiesene und renommierte Experten für Fachkommunikation. Mit der Spezialisierung auf Print, Publishing, Visuelle Kommunikation und Multichannel.

Graphic Repro On-line News Review from 26 October 2015

Welcome to another week of news highlights with Laurel Brunner’s Verdigris Blog for Friday 23 October, which this week examines the merits and demands of meaningful Environmental Awards for printers. Also a reminder about the best practice guide, ‘Optimised Paper Handling and Logistics’ which will shortly be released in an Alpha version for open industry comment. You can also apply to take part or to comment! You’ll find the article and links for that in Online Features Chapter 01.

News this week began with Fusion Office Automation in the Eastern Cape taking over responsibility for Ricoh’s Port Elizabeth branch and the territory. We have articles relating to the upcoming London Calling Duplo event from 3 – 4 November (Monday); InPrint 2015 in Munich from 10 – 12 November with Heidelberg’s participation with full colour 4D printing; ITMA in Milan with Mimaki from 12 – 10 November; SGIA and Kornit Digital from 4 – 6 November; EFI Connect Worldwide Users’ Conference, 19 – 22 January with Infotrends; and Ricoh at drupa 2016 from 31 May to 10 June (all on Tuesday).

Wednesday saw EFI take the lead with record Q3 results, following completion of the acquisitions of Reggiani and Matan on 1 July, which are now being quickly integrated into EFI’s product lines and offerings; while on Thursday, Inca Digital announced the launch of its new X-series large-format inkjet press range. As our headline says: You can now drive the new Inca Digital X3!

On Friday, leading London print house Park Communications continued its major investment programme with a 6-colour B1 KBA Rapida 106 with integral coating, following purchases earlier this year of a HP Indigo 7800 digital press and Kalmar mailing equipment with mail matching software. The new press will be commissioned early in the New Year. Other notable sales this week include the UK’s first Low Energy UV installation from Heidelberg with a Speedmaster XL 75-4 LE-UV press complete with Inpress Colour Control for Wincanton Print; while Germany’s Medienhaus Plump reported on its recent Muller Martini Pantera perfect binder (Wednesday). Backtracking to Monday, KBA announced the installation of a new eight-colour Rapida 106 at Litografia e Imprenta LiL in the Costa Rican capital, San Jose, for school textbooks and education publications; and Manroland Web has relocated a 48-page Lithoman with extensive upgrades at WKS Group in Essen, Germany. Thursday saw Muller Martini again, this time reporting on Frey Plus, a leading German direct mail firm based inUlm, in Southern Germany, which was first company in the world to commission the Muller Martini MailLiner.

You will find other new kit and software releases and more news if you scroll down carefully.

The tailender is not strictly print-related, but it does involve one of the world’s leading paper makers wearing one of its other hats: UPM has started field tests of wood-based diesel fuel in Helsinki region bus traffic with VTT and HSL, supported by St1, Volvo and Transdev… Biodiesel finally becomes a commercial reality! You’ll find this in Thursday’s headlines.

That’s all from me until next time,

My best regards,

Mike Hilton

Ach je, was nun? — Also weiter wie bisher!

Konferenz-Website: http://www.emge.com/wp1/

Graphic Repro On-line News Review from 05 October 2015

Welcome to another roundup of news highlights and Laurel Brunner’s Verdigris Blog for Friday 02 October, which this week highlights the fact that Ricoh, one of the biggest players in the graphic arts market, has maintained its place on the DJSI World Index for the third year running. They are considered the gold standard for sustainability and they are strict, with external audits, so they matter. Please don’t skip it. You’ll also find the official announcement from Ricoh South Africa in Thursday’s headlines. On Monday, Flint Group announced the publication of its Sustainability Report which you can download as a PDF. You will also find news from UPM and the Finnish Environment Institute on Wednesday.

News from Messe Düsseldorf in our drupa Newsroom this week, in both English and German, for drupa innovation park 2016: the heartbeat of innovation, where few areas at drupa 2016 (31 May to 10 June) will be so packed with innovations as Hall 7.0 — the home of the drupa innovation park in six themed areas. Please don’t miss it.

There are new additions in Online Features Chapter 07 from Gallus; and from Adare with Esko; and also in the FESPA Newsroom for FESPA Eurasia which takes place from 10 – 13 December, in Istanbul.

News this week included pre-show announcements for WAN-IFRA and the World Publishing Conference in Hamburg, which opens its doors today, until Wednesday (5 – 7 October), with Kodak leading the headlines on Monday with its show focus, while Agfa Graphics provided more news on its showings on Thursday. There are pre-show announcements from Sawgrass for C!Print in Madrid this week; and Kornit Digital for ITMA in Milan in November. A couple related to InPrint in Munich in November also appear on Friday.

A large proportion of this week’s news obviously centred around Labelexpo which opened on Tuesday in Brussels. Gallus led the headlines on the opening day with the official global sales launch of its new DCS 340 digital press for the label printing market, followed by EFI with the first Jetrion 4950LX one-pass LED inkjet label press, and new Packaging Productivity Suite; Domino announced hybrid integration with AB Graphics’ Digicon 3; while MPS also launched its EF Symjet hybrid press integrated with Domino at the Brussels event; followed by HP Indigo, as it showcased a large number of portfolio advancements and continued customer adoption, which demonstrate growing digital market opportunity. Kodak led on Wednesday with its new high-performance Electra Max Thermal Plate which delivers improved performance, and at the same time helps reduce environmental impact; while Xeikon announced its new Fusion concept which it classes as a breakthrough technology, and Sun Chemical displayed new ink ran ges. But there’s so much more if you work through this week’s collection of 43 news items. I don’t have space to highlight them all.

There are numerous new developments (in addition to those announced at Labelexpo), including IFS with a new SmartSlitter from Horizon on Monday; and on Wednesday Ricoh launched an inline SquareBack booklet-making option in collaboration with Watkiss; also X-Rite on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Several key sales and installations include numerous recent successes for HP Indigo, which are included in its Labelexpo show announcement on Tuesday; then on Wednesday and beyond, Heidelberg UK with a Linoprint digital press and CTP at Pinstripe in Birmingham; SPGPrints at Adamtec in Spain; HP Indigo again at Lorge in France; more Linoprint digital from Heidelberg UK at Barclays in Leyton; Onyx software at KL Druck in Germany; and SPGPrints again at RAKO-Etiketten in Germany. We also have a number of Xeikon successes out of Labelexpo lined-up for this coming week.

As a tailender, don’t miss KBA, which led the headlines on Thursday with KBA Report No 47, available now to order or to download as a PDF in multiple languages from the link provided in the article. This latest issue showcases the relevance of print under the motto ‘Products, Practices, Perspectives’.

That’s it until next time. You’ll find so much more if you scroll down carefully.

My best regards,

Mike Hilton

Graphic Repro On-line News Review from 28 September 2015

Welcome to another roundup of news highlights and Laurel Brunner’s Verdigris Blog for Friday 25 September, which this week looks at the possibility of cows being used to produce bioplastics to replace polythene and be totally recyclable at the end of its new life. Not exactly cows working in factories, but at least by using a bi-product from one of their most important products while they are still very much alive and mooing, unlike leather goods and meat, Bovril and fertiliser additives which only happen during their afterlives. Just imagine how environmentally cool and friendly that could be!

With Labelexpo opening its doors in Brussels tomorrow until 2 October, and FachPack in Nuremberg until 1 October, and then with WAN-IFRA’s World Publishing Expo in Hamburg just a week from now, you’ll understandably find quite a number of pre-show announcements again this week: from Xeikon and ThermoFlexX; Agfa Graphics (multiples), Toray, X-Rite, Xaar with a brand new product launch, Esko, Epson, Chili Publish, ColorGate, and PrintCity Alliance along with a number of its members for both events. You’ll also find Viscom-related announcements from Fujifilm with a new generation LED UV inkjet printer, and Sawgrass. Upcoming events also include FESPA China which takes place next month, and FESPA Digital and European Sign Expo in Amsterdam in March 2016. These are also in the FESPA Newsroom along with several o thers.

Key announcements this week include the finalisation of AIP’s acquisition of Goss International and its subsidiaries from Shanghai Electric, leading the news on Wednesday. Sappi joining the Save Food initiative on Monday; as well as Ricoh SA at Gartner ITxpo 2015 from 28 to 30 September in Cape Town, where Ricoh will showcase the Total South Africa success story. On Thursday, Xaar took the lead for the global launch announcement of its new and versatile inkjet Print Bar system at Labelexpo 2015. On Friday, Epson announced four new wide-format inkjet printers, designed to deliver accurate, wide-gamut quality for professional photo, fine art and ‘brand-level’ proofing. One of these is to make its debut at Labelexpo.

Major sales and installations this week were led by Heidelberg USA and an XL 75 Anicolor in Cleveland; Epson with Ireland’s first SurePress L-4033AW seven-colour digital label press with white ink and variable data option; and Spanish printer Graficas Varias, as it expands its digital portfolio with new HP Indigo WS6800 – all on Monday. Tuesday saw Springfield Solutions in the UK invest in its second Screen Truepress Jet L-350UV digital inkjet label press in just a year, and a very nice endorsement for Screen. On Wednesday, Finishline Print Finishers in the UKannounced that it has added a fully automated Muller Martini Pantera perfect binding line with Granit three-knife-trimmer; while York-based Inc Dot has added the latest generation Linoprint CP from Heidelberg to replace a three-year-old, previous generation machine.

On Thursday, Multi Packaging Solutions in Bristol heralds first UK installation of Domino’s 7-Colour N610i UV inkjet label press; CPM International announced that it is to install an HP Indigo 20000 this month for combined production and quality benefits and to take digital labels to next level; while Kustom Digital Print in Woodstock unveiled the first Xerox Versant 80 digital colour press in Cape Town, South Africa.

Key announcements this week also came from Global Graphics on Tuesday, for the Inkjet Conference in Neuss on 7 October; Manroland Web Systems on Wednesday; and from Heidelberg USA on Thursday out of Graph Expo, and also on Friday as well.

The tailender goes to the BPIF in Friday’s headlines, as it calls for further input on new standards. In March the Federation announced an employer led submission to develop new standards, in what is hoped will become an apprenticeship trailblazer for future generations in print. Please take a look. Maybe you can also contribute.

That’s it until next time. You’ll find so much more if you scroll down carefully.

My best regards,

Mike Hilton

Graphic Repro On-line News Review from 21 September 2015

Welcome to another roundup of news highlights and Laurel Brunner’s Verdigris Blog for Friday 18 September, which this week highlights energy-saving LED drying technology for both conventional and digital printing, where is has many advantages, including low energy consumption and long life. You’ll also find Heidelberg in the headlines on Wednesday, and in Online Features Chapter 02, highlighting its most recent and prominent LED successes in Europe, and briefly detailing its range of UV applications from full UV, to LE UV, and LED, all of which are designed to drive productivity up and drive energy costs down.

Monday’s lead article was devoted to Westdale Press in the UK, as it exits web offset to focus on high-end sheetfed, describing web print pricing as ‘laughable’. Its M-600 web was replaced last month by its third Heidelberg long perfector, a Speedmaster XL 106-8-P with the faster Inpress Control 2 register and colour control system, Autoplate XL simultaneous plate changing and CutStar reel to sheet device. The rest of Monday is devoted to Graph Expo announcements from Kodak, EFI and Pitney Bowes, and also from Manroland Web Systems, announcing its participation at World Publishing Expo in Hamburg next month.

On Tuesday, HP at Graph Expo led with its newly renamed PageWide Web Presses employing HDNA (High Definition Nozzle Architecture), which now offers enhanced print quality with unparalleled dual-drop-weight architecture at 2,400 nozzles per inch and with built-in nozzle redundancy. A number of HP Indigo 7800 enhancements, including new software and an in-line spectrophotometer to streamline production, and much more, are detailed in the article. Also at Graph Expo, Kodak highlights its success with digital inkjet growth this year, with the Kodak Prosper Press platform and the S-Series Imprinting Systems, as well as a raft of recent developments in digital inkjet and digital printing.

The European launch of the new Komori Lithrone GX40 Packaging Press in the Komori Europe Graphic Centre at the beginning of this month appears among Tuesday’s headlines; while on Thursday, UPM’s FSC group certification scheme for private forest owners in Finland took the lead, as it announced it has passed the milestone of 100,000 hectares of certified forest.

Friday is devoted almost entirely to Labelexpo Europe announcements for the show which opens later this month, from the organisers and from key exhibitors led by Kodak; as well as news of Ricoh Europe at Euromold in Düsseldorf, which takes place from tomorrow 22, until Friday, 25 September. A reminder also that FachPack 2015 in Nuremberg takes place from 29 September to 1 October. See Sappi and TRESU’s announcement on Thursday.

There were some excellent recent sales and installations this week, beginning on Tuesday with Johannesburg’s House of Print with the first Xerox 1000i press in sub-Saharan Africa; then Toronto’s CJ Graphics as the first to purchase a Scodix Ultra Pro with Scodix Foil in North America at Graph Expo. On Wednesday, Goss International led the headlines, as Henry Wurst’s Kansas City facility is to install a sixteen-page, five-unit Goss Sunday 2000 to expand its commercial print business; then Heidelberg UK with the latest digital success at TPS with Linoprint; and from Muller Martini with the new MC 160 book sewing machine, which has been put through it s paces and has passed with flying colours at Conzella. On Thursday, Community Impact in Texas announced that it is launching a new in-house print facility with a Goss Magnum Compact web offset press; while ASQ Labels in Belgium is expanding into new markets with the wide colour gamut, high resolution Domino N610i UV digital inkjet label press.

A tailender to quench your thirst for knowledge this week, as Bud Light adopts HP Indigo digital print mass customisation technology to produce 200,000 unique, limited-edition Festival cans.

That’s it until next time. You’ll find much more if you scroll down carefully.

My best regards,

Mike Hilton

Seidl Weber Initiative Fachkommunikation 2015.001

Seidl Weber Initiative Fachkommunikation 2015.002

Pitney Bowes Inkjet System

Major step for Pitney Bowes: a new all-in-one mid-volume print and mail solution system

Graphic Repro On-line News Review from 14 September 2015 by Mike Hilton

Welcome to another roundup of news highlights and Laurel Brunner’s Verdigris Blog on Friday 11 September, which this week draws attention to ISO, which is currently reviewing an important document, the ISO Guide 64. For the printing industry, and indeed all product manufacturers, this snappy tome makes for interesting-ish reading. Its purpose is to explain how to take environmental concerns into account when creating product standards. Laurel also provides some words of warning, so please don’t miss it!

The news this week is once again a mixed bag with several articles related to Graph Expo, which opened yesterday, Sunday 13 and runs until Wednesday 16 September, at McCormick Place in Chicago. You’ll find some extremely interesting and important announcements led by EFI and Scodix on Wednesday, followed by Xerox and Highcon on Thursday. Friday saw Kodak with BDT; then Xeikon with Alwan, and again Xerox. I’m sure there will be several more during the week ahead.

Other upcoming show news appeared on Monday, for The Inkjet Conference in Neuss / Düsseldorf in October; and then from IFS for Print Efficiently taking place next month in Hemel Hempstead. From Sun Chemical at Glassprint in November in Düsseldorf; on Wednesday from Agfa as it prepares to launch the next generation of its chemistry-free violet plates at the World Publishing Expo 2015 in Hamburg, early next month. You’ll also find announcements from Asahi for Labelexpo at the end of September; and from Durst at Vitrum 2015 in Milan, from 6 – 9 October with its next generation glass printer.

On Tuesday, Sappi Europe led the headlines in announcing an extended portfolio of its specialist Algro base papers for thermal printing.  UPM took the lead on Thursday, as it has again been listed as the industry leader in the Dow Jones European and World Sustainability Indices. On Friday, Goss International took pole position as it announced twenty years of leading press automation technology with Autoplate, a key milestone in the development of web offset printing. Autoplate automatic plate-changing was first introduced on the M-600 press in 1995, offering the ability to plate up an entire web press in less than three minutes. Today, more than 2100 Goss Autoplate units are in operation on a range of commercial and newspaper presses worldwide.

There are several nice sales and installations for you again this week, from Xerox and Bytes at Asset Print in Cape Town, from Fujifilm, Domino with digital labels in the UK, Highcon with a first in France, and also from Heidelberg UK with another Speedmaster. You will also find the latest software release from Axaio, and a new low odour eco-solvent alternative inkjet ink series from Sun Chemical for Roland devices.

The tailender this week quite literally, as it is the last item in the news on Friday, goes to Manroland Sheetfed, which has invested 70,000 Euros in a new CNC machining centre for apprentices in Offenbach.

That’s it until next time. You’ll find a couple more if you scroll down carefully. And we will add the lastest news from GraphExpo on-the-fly!

My best regards,

Mike Hilton

Motio-Netzwerktage 2015 - Vortrag Andreas Weber.001

© 2015 by Andreas Weber, Mainz/Frankfurt am Main.

— Originalausgabe: Quill Publishing Ltd., London, 1981 (The complete guide to prints and printmaking techniques and materials)].

EXKURS
Kunst ist keine Spielerei. Sondern ein ernsthaften Geschäft. In riesiger Dimension.

• Umsatz: 145,3 Mrd. Euro (Anteil an der Gesamtwirtschaft 2,36 Prozent)

Beschäftigung:
• Erwerbstätige (Selbständige und sozialversicherungspflichtig Beschäftigte ohne Minijobs): 1.038.601
• (Anteil an der Gesamtwirtschaft 3,16 Prozent),
• Anstieg der Erwerbstätigkeit: 2,67 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahr
• Anstieg der sozialversicherungspflichtigen Beschäftigung: 3,27 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahr
• Erwerbstätige insgesamt (Erwerbstätige und geringfügig Beschäftigte/Tätige): 1.592.000

Bruttowertschöpfung: 65,3 Mrd. Euro (Anteil an Gesamtwirtschaft 2,32 Prozent)
• Anteil Selbständige an den Erwerbstätigen: 24 Prozent
• Anteil der Kleinstunternehmen/Freiberufler (Umsatz unter 2 Millionen Euro): 97 Prozent (Anteil der Kleinstunternehmen am Gesamtumsatz rund 26 Prozent) (2012)

Motio-Netzwerktage 2015 - Vortrag Andreas Weber.009

Man brauche Ruhe, Konzentration, Störungsfreiheit.

  1. Die richtigen Kontakte zu Spezialisten, dabei einfache Technikabläufe mit hohem Komfort, simpel in der Nutzung und mit schnellster Lieferung („Same Day!“).
  2. Materialvielfalt bei den Trägermedien.
  3. Inspirierende Effekte.
  4. Aussergewöhnliche Formate.
  5. Breite Anwendungsvielfalt (Beschriftungen/Schrifttafeln, Handouts, Außenwerbungsmaterialien wie Großposter, Fahnen, Banner etc.).
Motio-Netzwerktage 2015 - Vortrag Andreas Weber.028

Motio-Netzwerktage 2015 - Vortrag Andreas Weber Apple.001

Obgleich beide wesentliche Rollen spielen in unserem Kommunikationsalltag.

The Art of Print!“.

Motio-Netzwerktage 2015 - Vortrag Andreas Weber.036

Kommunizieren Sie neue Angebote an neue Zielgruppen.

Graphic Repro On-line News from 31 August 2015 | By Mike Hilton

Welcome to another roundup of news highlights and Laurel Brunner’s Verdigris Blog on Friday 04 September, which this week travels to Japan, where the Japanese Federation of Printing Industries has become involved in paper recycling and developed a simple and effective system with comprehensive guidelines, a checklist and an online database of consumables, to which printers and print buyers can refer in order to work out what the ranking of the final product will be. It’s a simple and effective system that other countries should consider adopting.

News again this week was a little on the lean side to say the least, with only 19 articles for you to browse through. Upcoming Graph Expo in Chicago featured with announcements led by Heidelberg on Monday, and EFI and QuadTech on Tuesday and Thursday. We also had news from AMS and SPGPrints on Friday for Labelexpo in Brussels, and earlier in the week from Onyx at Viscom in Paris. On Wednesday, Duplo provided an update for London Calling Focus in November.

Leading Thursday’s headlines, drupa 2016 announced the start of its world tour at Igas in Japan on 12 September, followed by Graph Expo in Chicago on 14 September, as part of 40 planned global pre-drupa events embracing all five continents for next year’s show, which begins at the end of May and into June 2016. You can use the drupa banners on our Home Page at any time to take you to its Website.

Installations and sales successes this week include KBA with two Commander CL newspaper presses for Oppermann Druck in Germany; and Manroland Sheetfed with an eight-colour Roland 700 perfector and a seven-colour Roland 700 HiPrint for Kawashima in Japan. Then, KBA sheetfed with two long specially configured eight- and nine-colour Rapida UV presses for Beyer Graphics in New YorkState in the U.S.A. While in Cap e Town, South Africa, commercial printer Digital Express announced a twin buy of two Xerox Versant 2100s to expand its digital offerings. Finally, Kube in the UK is adding a five-colour Speedmaster XL 75-5+coater and Inpress Control 2 from Heidelberg.

A special mention this week for Ricoh Europe which announced a new Clickable Paper White Paper on Thursday, highlighting the importance of interactive print in direct marketing campaigns. You can download this via the link in the article.

The tailender this week goes to the fourteen new apprentices and trainees who began their working careers at Manroland Web Systems in Augsburg on 1 September, and leads the headlines on Friday.

That’s it until next time. There’s a bit more if you scroll down carefully.

My best regards,

Mike Hilton
